Sue Besinger, RN, Breast Care Specialist at the Battelle Breast Care Center successfully completed the requirements to become a Certified MammaCare Clinical Breast Examiner.
MammaCare is the recognized standard for teaching and performing clinical breast examination in breast cancer screening clinics.
“I would like to congratulate Sue on her achievement,” said Dr. Mitchell Spahn, medial director of the Battelle Breast Care Center. “Having a registered nurse who can give clinical breast exams and teach self-breast exams is a great resource to our patients.”
Sue was able to attend the certification course thanks to a travel grant from The Columbus Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“I am grateful that I had the opportunity to attend this training,” said Sue. “Madison County has a huge need for breast education, and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Sue will be utilizing her certification during the Battelle Breast Care Center’s Breast Care Clinics, which will provide mammograms and breast exams to Madison County women at no cost.
The Breast Care Clinics are made possible through a generous grant from The Columbus Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For appointments, women should call central scheduling at (740) 845-7100 and refer to the “Breast Care Clinic.”
