Volunteers are an important part of the team at Madison County Hospital. They run the gift shop, assist in administrative work, deliver meals on wheels, and help in various departments of the hospital including the emergency room, operating room, and OB. Without their dedication, MCH would not be able to provide such high quality care to the community.

On September 14, MCH recognized volunteers at an annual luncheon.

Savannah Wilson was the winner of the Jean Smith Award after volunteering 755 hours. The Jean Smith Award recognizes the volunteer who has accumulated the most hours in one year. It can only be received one time.

Savannah Wilson began her career at MCH as a Project Search volunteer in the OR during her senior year of high school. She became a vital part of the OR team and was recruited as an official MCH volunteer after she graduated. Savannah assists with disinfecting, sterilizing, and wrapping instruments for OR, Endoscopy, OB and ER. You may also see Savannah as she industriously assists with orderly and transporting duties.

Thelma Collins won the Centerpiece of the Day for her 4,314 hours of service. The Centerpiece of the Day is awarded to the volunteer with the most accumulated hours over the years and can only be received one time.
