The Friends of the London Public Library and the London Public Library are collaborating with Madison Health in promoting early literacy, while remembering a community leader.
A permanent children’s collection has been purchased for Martha’s Corner. New books will be given to each child ages 1 through 11 at their annual wellness check-up.
This endeavor is done in memory of a local pediatrician, the late Dr. Martha Geib. Geib passed away suddenly in April 2015 and Martha’s Corner was created to honor and continue her efforts to promote early literacy. Martha’s Corner consists of a reading nook filled with books for children to take home and share with siblings and friends.
Geib was an advocate for children and education. As an active community member, she supported the library, London City Schools, and numerous groups and activities, but it was evident that her love for children and education took priority.
