The Madison Press: Mount Sterling to get medical facility
July 16, 2015

Madison Health will plant a medical facility in Mount Sterling.

The London-based medical facility has formed a partnership with the Mt. Sterling Community Center and will lease an approximately 3,200-square-foot new addition to the community center and provide medical services.

Services will consist of a primary care physician with five consultation rooms, physical therapy and a lab-draw station, said Dana Engle, CEO of Madison Health.

“We have a lot of folks in the Mount Sterling area who are big supporters and promoters of Madison Health,” Engle said. “Several of them and community leaders had a conversation with us and discussed a presence in Mount Sterling.”

Engle did not disclose terms of the lease agreement, but did say furnishing the building, plus the lease agreement will be “an expensive undertaking for us.”

But the object is service.

“Mount Sterling is part of our community and we feel strongly about serving them,” Engle said. “There’s a lot of great folks in Mount Sterling who volunteer here and are great supporters of us and they’ve played a key role in getting this done.”

Lisa Schwartz, chairman of the board of the Mt. Sterling Community Center, said conversations with Madison Health began in February.

“We have just recently signed a lease with them,” Schwartz said. “The building will be new construction and attached to the community center. We’re hoping to be open in February or March. It’s very exciting for Mount Sterling.”

The architect will be Ankrom of Circleville, which served as architect for the community center.

“It made sense for him to be architect on the addition,” Schwartz said.

Jay-Car Construction will serve as the general contractor.

Schwartz said the community center will finance the construction through a loan, which will be paid back through the lease.

Terms of the construction cost and lease agreement were undisclosed.

“All of our programs, everything that happens at the community center is funded through donations,” Schwartz added.

Mayor Charlie Neff said he is excited about the new addition.

“It will be quite a boost the community of Mount Sterling,” Neff said.

The addition will be placed at the rear of the existing building.

A ground breaking ceremony has been scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25.
