The season of giving continues for Madison Health
January 22, 2015
The traditional season of giving may be over, but Madison Health has received the largest single contribution in the hospital’s history. George “Buddy” and Diane Byers recently donated $1 million to the Madison Health Foundation and their generosity will strengthen the organization’s ability to advance services as the healthcare landscape changes.
“Madison Health has no greater friends then Buddy and Diane Byers,” said Dr. Mitchell Spahn, Chairman of the Madison Health Board of Trustees. “They have done so much for our hospital with their time and charitable giving over the years and we are honored to have their trust to use this major gift to expand and improve healthcare services in our community.”
Buddy and Diane have a long-standing history of supporting Madison Health both financially and through volunteer efforts. They are Charter and Pillar members of the Keystone Society where members help to maintain quality healthcare by making individual commitments to the Madison Health Foundation. Diane is also a dedicated hospital volunteer and an active member of the Auxiliary.
Madison Health is a private, non-profit organization. In today’s healthcare environment, few hospitals can afford to finance all their capital needs. Madison Health depends on the Madison Health Foundation and the philanthropy of individuals, such as Buddy and Diane, who care deeply about healthcare and the organization’s ability to keep pace with healthcare trends.
In order to evolve, in 2014, the employees at Madison Health put into action a growth initiative to better serve the healthcare needs of the local communities. While the initiative is still in an early stage, the organization is already welcoming more patients who have elected to receive their care at Madison Health. Impacted areas include emergency visits, inpatient care and outpatient care, which is comprised of services such as therapy, oncology/chemotherapy and radiology.
The Byers’ gift will allow Madison Health to begin planning for the facility enhancements that are necessary for the future.
The Madison Health Foundation was created as a separate non-profit organization in 1974 and is administered by a local Board of Trustees. Whether a donation is given for a specific purpose or with no restrictions, the Foundation trustees ensure that each gift is properly managed and utilized as intended by the donor and each dollar stays right here in our community. The Madison Health Foundation is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, making your contribution tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
