LONDON--When Madison County Hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer Patrick Baker bought a book by Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel at the hospital’s Auxiliary’s book sale, he never imagined that one day he’d get to meet the coach himself halfway around the world.
Deployed in January, Baker has been serving in Iraq for the past six months where he is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. military serving as a Healthcare Administrator.
Baker and his fellow soldiers got a surprise visit last week when Coach Tressel as well as other college football coaches showed up to visit the troops and patients at the hospital at the Joint Base Balad in Iraq.
The coaches even organized a flag football game on the base and coached the teams.
Baker brought Tressel’s book, The Winners Manual, with him when he was deployed. Of course, Coach Tressel was happy to autograph it.
