Annual golf outing renamed Bob Powers Classic to honor longtime volunteer
June 21, 2011
This year the Madison County Hospital Foundation's annual golf outing has been renamed the Bob Powers Classic in honor of the outing's longtime volunteer chairperson.
Bob Powers was an integral part of the County Classic golf outing for over 20 years. He passed away on August 8, 2010, just three days before the event he helped planned since the MCH Foundation's first County Classic in 1989.
“We wanted to honor Bob's commitment to Madison County Hospital and the County Classic golf outing," said Mona Flax, Executive Director of the MCH Foundation. "He helped make the outing the biggest in Madison County and is greatly missed."
You can now register for the Madison County Hospital Foundation’s 2011 Bob Powers Classic golf outing held on Wednesday, August 10 and Thursday, August 11 at the London Country Club.
The tournament includes player's gifts, lots of prizes, challenging games, and good food. Funds from the event will support the Foundation's new campaign "Caring for Today and Tomorrow." The $2 million campaign will support information technology initiatives, including the addition of electronic health records (EHRs); add new equipment to radiology, surgery, and laboratory; and expand endowment funds that assist uninsured patients.
The Bob Powers Classic is a two-day golf event that offers two different formats. Wednesday’s four-person shamble begins at 12:30 pm. The fee is $100 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, carts, beverages on the course, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and an opportunity to win over $1,200 in prize money.
On Thursday players will compete in a six-person scramble and have a choice of either a 7:30 am or 1:30 pm shotgun start. The cost is $80 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, carts, lunch, dinner, and beverages on the course. The day also includes unique chipping and putting contests, and fun games.
Register for both days and only pay $160 to play 36 holes of golf.
