Local businesses recognized for generosity
June 15, 2011
The Madison County Hospital Foundation recognized over 80 local business and civic organizations at their Annual Business Partners Breakfast on June 15 in the hospital.
Corporate Gifts Chair, Gary Feliks of O’Connor’s Office Products started the morning by thanking the businesses for their continued support of MCH. “I am pleased to be able to recognize you all for your help in improving the quality of life here in Madison County.”
Foundation President, Randy Crisp thanked the Foundation committee chairs Gary Feliks, Dr. Mitch Spahn, Darla Bires, and Mike Quilter. Their committees, as well as the Annual Gifts Committee chaired by Linda Houser, have helped the Foundation raise more than $1.75 million for the breast cancer initiative.
"At MCH we continue to count on you for your charitable gifts and support of our fundraising events," said Crisp. "Thank you for helping us continue to provide the best possible care right here in Madison County."
Fred Kolb, CEO, spoke about the Foundation's new campaign, Caring for Today and Tomorrow. The $2 million campaign will support information technology initiatives, including the addition of electronic health records (EHRs); add new equipment to radiology, surgery, and laboratory; and expand endowment funds that assist uninsured patients.
Hospitals across the nation have begun to incorporate EHRs to improve patient care. Among other benefits, EHRs securely house a patient’s medical history, a list of his or her medications and dosages, and test results in real time allowing physicians and nurses immediate access during treatment. In addition, providers can scan a patient’s identification bracelet prior to administering medication to receive alerts about any possible allergic reactions or adverse drug interactions.
"By adding electronic health records, improving our infrastructure, and providing endowment funds for patients who cannot afford care, we can continue to provide quality health care to all those in Madison County who need us," said Kolb.
Following the presentation, Chairman Gary Feliks welcomed three new members to the Foundation Business Partners Honor Roll: A Chef for You, owned by Chef Marc Dullin who caters Heartfelt Holidays; Kroger, a faithful fundraising event supporter; and attorneys Tim Stonecipher and Dustin Hughes of Stonecipher Hughes.
Also recognized were the 15 current business partners who made new campaign commitments. The latest pledge from Agricultural Lands, Inc. moved them up to the Gold Leader Level for cumulative giving of $75,000. Additional new gifts were given by Battelle, byersauto.com, Columbus Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Custom Sign Center, Fairbrook Homes, Flax Law Firm/Midland Title West, Iota Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Madison County Hospital Auxiliary, Madison County Hospital H.E.A.R.T.S. Giving Club, Madison County Hospital Medical Staff, Plain City Lions Club, Ruth Lyons Fund, Stanley Electric, and the Zangmeister Center.
Special recognition was also given to businesses whose cumulative giving has moved them up a level. Starting this year, once an organization makes their first capital campaign gift, every subsequent dollar given to MCH will be counted to determine cumulative giving — whether it's for a sponsorship, memorial gift, golf registration, or tickets to an event.
