Health Tip: Skip Traditional Barbequed Food
In favor of healthier options
-- Diana Kohnle

(HealthDay News) -- Enjoy the summer ritual of barbequing without derailing your healthy eating plan.

Here are suggestions from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics:

  • Swap beef for turkey with fresh herbs.
  • Baste and grill your favorite veggies, such as zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, carrots and corn.
  • For a sweet treat, grill fruit such as pineapple slices, peach halves or fruit kebobs. Serve them with angel food cake or low-fat ice cream.
