Offer age-appropriate toys
-- Diana Kohnle

(HealthDay News) -- As your baby gets older and develops, so should motor skills of the fingers and hands.

The American Academy of Family Physicians recommends:

  • Offer baby soft objects to play with and throw, such as brightly colored textured balls in different sizes.
  • Sit on the floor with baby and roll a ball back and forth. It may take the infant a while to get the hang of it, but keep trying.
  • Offer baby toys with parts that move, such as spinning wheels, levers and hinges.
  • Blocks make a great toy to explore and build with.
